Mary Wilson Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at 7 p.m. Legendary for her work as a founding member of the world's most famous girl-group The Supremes, Mary Wilson has a special talent of which fewer people are aware. It is a warm and genuine storytelling ability which combines with her vocal prowess to create the perfect cabaret show. Her appearance at Australia's Adelaide Cabaret festival last summer elicited this review: "Ms. Wilson's mastery of vocal coloring was on display from a bottom register as dark and velvety as Guinness into a still agile top." Mary Wilson... stripped of anything but the piano accompaniment gave of herself so completely she brought home the core of why cabaret is so loved." At Feinstein's in New York, San Francisco's Plush Room, and numerous venues around the globe, Ms. Wilson has performed not only Motown hits, but more intimate standards, revealing Ms. Wilson's emotional range. Celebrating both Bay Area Cabaret's opening night and Ms. Wilson's return to The Venetian Room after more than two decades, Ms. Wilson will perform an acoustic, intimate program featuring ballads like "Smile", "Fields of Gold" and "Tears in Heaven", as well as a few thrilling additions.
