Best known for her role in the movie-musical Dreamgirls, Tony Award winner (Caroline or Change) Anika Noni Rose returns to San Francisco to make her much anticipated West Coast concert debut. A graduate of ACT, the actress-singer went on to star in Broadway productions of Three Penny Opera and Cat on A Hot Tin Roof (with Terence Howard and James Earl Jones). On TV, Anika can be seen on the CBS series, "The Good Wife and other films include Disney's The Princess and the Frog and the Tyler Perry film, For Colored Girls.
Anika brings us "Vintage Rose", her tribute to legendary vocalists like Lena Horne, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson and Eartha Kitt, who were all part of the rich musical history of the Venetian Room. The show premiered last weekend at Lincoln Center, where the New York Times praised her "easy-going effervescence", "wholesome ingenuousness" and innovative arrangements of familiar yet seldom-heard songs.
