Versatile singer/songwriter/actress Nellie McKay has toured the world to critical acclaim since the New York Times dubbed her debut album A tour de force from a sly, articulate musician who sounds comfortable in any era. Musical wanderlust, lyrical playfulness and a beautiful Blossom Dearie voice has long characterized her music, which has been heard at Jazz at Lincoln Center, in Lincoln Center's prestigious American Songbook series and on TV (Weeds, Grey’s Anatomy, Nurse Jackie, HBO's Boardwalk Empire). On Saturday, March 23rd, McKay sings a sampling of her original songs and takes us back to the 1930s to perform familiar and lesser-known Porter and Gershwin material with San Francisco’s Grammy-winning a cappella male chorus Chanticleer.
